home improvement

Tay and I are in the process of improving the look of our home.  Our first project as a married couple.  Wow.  Who would have thought picking out the color of wood for the floors would be so stressful?  Seriously, they're just floors.  We walk on them, they get dusty and dirty and then I clean them.  But of course, it can't be that easy.  The color has to be just right.  The wood can't be too light, too dark, too reddish orange or god forbid "too natural".  The "too natural" was Taylor's reference to the hardwood I picked out with a more rustic look.  According to him, it "looked like something that was taken out of a home built in the 1930s".  I've come to the realization in the short four months we've been married (actually, I kind of knew before we were wed), he will never understand my appreciation of anything vintage or old.  The project was scheduled to start today.  Obviously, that's not happening.  Hopefully, we can agree on something in between "too natural" and "too reddish orange" before our first home improvement project becomes a doozie!
